UAE: DEWA releases technical standards for roof top installations
Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) has launched a process of registration and certification in respect of solar equipment to be used as part of roof top installations in Dubai.
Manufacturers are required to register themselves and their products online with DEWA. As part of the process, an online application form must be completed and accreditation documents must be submitted. DEWA’s Standard for Distributed Renewable Resources Generators set out the requirements for photovoltaic modules, inverters, interface protection systems and other components.
The equipment that achieves certification will be listed on DEWA’s website after successfully completing the process.
We await further announcements from DEWA in relation to the roof top program, in particular the mechanism by which the net metering will operate and how excess generation will be dealt with. Eversheds will keep monitoring the situation and keep you up to date with future developments.
