Settlement Agreements, the new ACAS code and protected conversations - an Education Sector Seminar
Who should attend
This seminar is aimed at managers, HR practitioners and anyone else with responsibility for staffing matters or dismissals in higher and further education institutions, academies and schools.
Earlier this year the government introduced a number of changes intended to reform the law relating to agreed terminations. This included the introduction of settlement agreements, confidentiality of pre-termination negotiations, the introduction of a new ACAS code on settlement agreements and early ACAS conciliation. In this seminar we will analyse these changes and how they impact on education institutions.
Issues for discussion will include:
- What is a settlement agreement and how does it differ from a compromise agreement?
- What is included within the new ACAS Code of Practice on Settlement Agreements?
- What are the rules regarding ‘protected conversations’ and what difference does this make for institutions?
- What is the new early conciliation process and how does it work?
