Finnish competition landmark case to European Court of Justice

  • Finland

    19-12-2017

Finnish Supreme Court has today, December 19, 2017 decided to refer for a preliminary ruling from European Court of Justice (ECJ) on interpretation of successors’ liability of damages caused by a cartel. Earlier this year the Finnish Supreme Court granted our principal City of Vantaa, the 4th biggest city of Finland, a leave of Appeal.

Overall, the court proceeding within the asphalt cartel case is the most extensive, long-running and complex competition private enforcement case in Finland. Now the fundamental question of successor’s liability shall be examined by the ECJ. Our team, Partners Olli Hyvönen and Niina Mickelsson as well as Senior Associate Marja Boman, is looking forward to ECJ outcome of the preliminary ruling.
