Helen Annable has experience in all types of corporate occupiers work, including acquisitions, sale and leasebacks, disposals and corporate transactions.

She is a Partner in the corporate real estate team. Helen first joined Eversheds Sutherland in 1997 and has been a partner since 2007.  

She has a background in all occupier client work types, including development, acquisitions, portfolio management, sale and leasebacks, disposals and corporate transactions. Her specialism is in managing client service teams to effectively service and add value to large and diverse corporate occupier portfolios.

Helen’s approach is always client-centered – putting the client's needs and business objectives at the center of whatever she does. She is not afraid to challenge the “norm” and has a track record of bringing innovative legal and IT solutions to the client. Helen is a supportive and encouraging team leader and able to mobilize and lead large and diverse client service teams to meet a client's business objectives. She has a collaborative, not adversarial, style – believing that a positive (but firm) working relationship with a counterparty and its legal advisors is the best way to secure the best outcome for real estate clients. 

Helen's recent experience includes:

  • running a large team acting for a national pub and restaurant chain – the team dealing with everything from licences to multi-million pound corporate acquisitions and disposals (examples include leading on a complicated lease and investment sale of over 70 hotel premises for in excess of £70 million and a number of out-of-town new build developments as part of its acquisition strategy) 
  • acting for a major logistics company on all property matters, including refinancing, new build acquisitions of premises in the Midlands, a sale and leaseback of its head office, and the onboarding of new commercial contracts and associated property requirements

  • acting for a national budget hotel operator on the acquisition of new hotel sites in the UK
  • leading the real estate team acting for a major UK and international takeaway operator utilizing a franchise model – including acquisitions, disposal, strategic acquisitions of head office functions, structuring advice and change of hand transactions
  • running a cross-disciplinary team acting for a national utility company on the successful sale of “red-risk” contaminated land to a developer as part of that developers proposed development for a major distribution hub — as a client subject to a regulatory framework this included ongoing consideration of risk, reward, publicity implications and best value
