Tessa is a Principle Associate within our ELPG practice group [in our Amsterdam office] and has over ten years’ experience. Tessa is praised for her practical approach, her responsiveness and making complex cases ‘easy’.
Recent experience
- advising, from the start to finish, on a collective redundancy of more than 100 employees, including negotiations with the trade unions and works council about a collective redundancy plan
- advised a foreign temporary employment agency about the possible risks of establishing a temporary employment agency in the Netherlands and taking over personnel over other Dutch temporary employment agencies
- advising and assisting a cooperative association, with members in the United States, with regard to the dismissal of a managing director in the Netherlands
- advising and assisting a company recently established in the Netherlands on all aspects of employment law such as applicability of collective bargaining agreement, work council related matters and day-to-day employment matters
- successfully represented a foundation in legal proceedings up to the Central Appeals Tribunal (for the public service and social security matters) regarding sickness benefits granted to an ex-employee by the Dutch Labour Office (UWV)
- successfully defended a multinational chemical company against a union-led strike in 3 chemical plants
- successfully defended a corporate travel agency company in legal proceedings initiated by an employee who disagreed with the change of function
She advises both national and international clients on a wide variety of employment law such as reorganizations, including works council and labour unions negotiations, matters related to sick employees and employment law-related aspects of national and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. She has also substantial litigation experience.
Tessa has worked in our London and Paris offices. In 2018 Tessa was on a six month secondment to an international client in the oil and gas industry to assist the in-house employment team.
Tessa is active in the Gender Network in the Netherlands and is one of the members of our ESG group.
Tessa studied Dutch law at the University of Groningen and completed the Post Graduate Employment Education program in 2015.
