Victoria Callicott

Principal Associate

Victoria is a Principal Associate in the Birmingham Commercial Dispute Resolution team and has substantial experience leading high-value domestic/cross-border disputes. 

She has particular experience in the Industrials sector, with a focus on Aerospace and the Water Sector.

Victoria helps clients resolve disputes through alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation, and advises clients on risk management with a view to avoiding disputes arising. She has also led clients through complex and high-value litigation. Victoria has particular experience in acting on contractual disputes, including supply chain disputes, outsourcing disputes and corporate transaction disputes.

Victoria has worked with a number of clients in our Industrials sector, with a focus on Aerospace, as well as in the water sector. Her recent experience includes:

  • acting for one of the UK’s largest water and sewerage undertakers on a long-running £80m dispute in the Technology & Construction Court — the claim arose out of the sale of the client’s non-household retail business, following the deregulation of the business water market in April 2017
  • acting for one of the UK’s largest water and sewerage undertakers in the first Arbitration to take place under the Wholesale Retail Code, which came into effect on 1 April 2017
  • acting for a utilities company defending a multi-million pound claim in respect of charges imposed since 1970s — the Commercial Court granted summary judgment in our favor
  • acting for a utilities company defending a claim in an ad-hoc arbitration under Schedule 12 of the Water Industry Act 1991
  • advising on a multi-million pound contractual dispute concerning the provision and maintenance of engines in the Defense sector
  • advising on a number of high-value cross-jurisdictional supplier disputes as part of a comprehensive claims management service to manage supply chain issues
  • advising a company on high-value product defect claims in the Aerospace sector 
  • advising a PLC on a high-value product defect claim across a number of separate projects in the energy sector
  • advising on a multi-million bound repudiatory breach of contract claim for a recycling company
  • acting for an engineering company in the Edinburgh Tram Inquiry
  • advising on various high-value breach of warranty claims following corporate acquisitions/disposals 

In addition, Victoria has undertaken two long-term secondments with a FTSE 100 plc. The first involved managing and settling liabilities as part of a corporate disposal, and the second was a one-day job share with a member of the in-house legal team.

  • Victoria was a finalist in the legal category for Birmingham Young Professional of the Year in 2019.

 

Victoria is a Director and a steering group committee member of a not-for-profit organization, the  Midlands Fraud Forum. She leads the Young Professional Sub-Committee and works with an external team to run a Great Winter Debate each year focusing on topical issues with industry experts.
