Luisa is a Principal Associate in our Litigation and Dispute Management group.
She has worked in dispute resolution with private and public sector clients since qualification with Eversheds in 2002. Luisa has special experience in public law issues.
She has a breadth of experience in all areas of dispute resolution, including mediation. Luisa commonly advises on cases involving judicial review, public procurement, professional discipline, inquiries and investigations, breach of contract, and termination.
Career highlights include:
- acting for the defendant in a $93m claim for alleged misfeasance in public office arising out of a criminal investigation of fraud, bribery and corruption; this was one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 litigation cases for 2021;
- part of the team successfully defending a claim brought by Stagecoach in a high profile procurement and judicial review challenge relating to the East Midlands Rail Franchise, in particular overseeing the disclosure review. The case was 2nd of The Lawyer “Top20 Cases to Watch” in 2020;
- obtaining an order from the High Court to allow the contract award of a major contested contract valued at £1.8bn and defending the claim for damages;
- leading the team providing Legal Adviser services to professional conduct panels of a regulator in over 700 cases;
- acting for an education provider in judicial review proceedings successfully overturning the sanctions which had been imposed on the Principal by the qualification awarding body.
- one of the Senior Lawyers instructed as part of the team acting as Solicitor to the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Inquiry.
- acting on behalf of a core participant in the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.
- Luisa is also experienced in representing clients seeking to challenge decisions of regulators, including OFSTED, the Care Quality Commission and the Quality Assurance Agency.
Luisa is named as a "Next Generation Partner" in Legal 500 with comments that she is "well-versed in public procurement matters, combining this work with a niche professional discipline offering".
