Alessandro Greco is the Head of the of Competition, Trade & Foreign Investment practice in Italy, with an experience of more than 20 years as antitrust and consumer protection specialist.

Alessandro has a significant experience in assisting companies during the investigations before the Italian Antitrust Authority, both in antitrust and consumer protection matters.

His practice covers all areas of EU, regulatory and competition law as well as antitrust litigation, merger control and EU and state aid laws, trade and exports control legislation, Foreign Direct Investments filings, pharmaceutical, energy, transport, gaming/gambling, telecommunication regulation, consumer law/unfair commercial practices and other areas of enforcement of the Italian Competition Authority. Alessandro is an LSE Alumnus, a Rome Bar member qualified to plea before the Higher Courts. He is also a member of the Competition Commission of the Italian branch of the International Chamber of Commerce. Alessandro has published several articles, briefings and press releases on Global Competition Review and on Italian financial newspapers. He also lectured on antitrust matters in post-graduate courses in Rome and Milan.

In addition to being consistently individually ranked by Chambers Europe and Legal 500 amongst EU & Competition leading lawyers in Italy since 2015 as well as having won the Client Choice Awards for Competition in Italy in 2021, Alessandro is also routinely inserted in the list of outstanding senior competition leading lawyers in Italy published by Who’s Who Legal and in the restricted list of future leading lawyers in this field of the same Who’s Who Legal.

Having graduated in law (J.D., magna cum laude) from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, he spent a period of internship with the Italian Antitrust Authority (with the Directorate in charge of energy, gas, oil sector, and with the Directorate in charge of transports sector) and obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in EU Competition Law awarded by King’s College London (2002) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with merit from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2003).

Assistance to one of the leading worldwide producer of generic drugs in an investigation for an alleged abuse of dominance put in place by increasing the prices of oncology drugs. This was the most relevant abuse of dominance’s investigation initiated by the Italian Competition Authority.

Legal support to one of the leading providers in Italy of facility management services to public administrations, public entities and private clients, in the context of the Competition Authority's investigation related to an alleged anti-competitive agreement aimed at coordinating the participation in the tender worth more than € 3 billion launched by the Italian Central Purchasing Body for public administrations (CONSIP)  and in the subsequent litigation before the competent Administrative Courts for the appeal against the ICA's final resolution still pending before the second instance court.

Representing multinational companies in the filing of mergers, acquisitions before the Italian Presidency under the FDI review regulatory framework and before the Italian Competition Authority and the European Commission.

Assisting national and multinational companies in the consumer protection investigations initiated by the Italian Competition Authority.
