Wie-Men is a Partner with considerable experience in representing clients in employment litigation in complex, high profile and high-value discrimination complaints which often carry reputational risk.

Wie-Men advises businesses and organizations like yours on strategic people management issues including business restructuring (redundancies and change programs), tackling unlawful workplace discrimination, managing complex investigations, disciplinaries and grievances, executive terminations and sickness and absence management. 

Since qualifying as a lawyer in 2003, Wie-Men has also represented clients in the employment tribunal and regularly conducts his advocacy in Employment Tribunals in the UK.

As one of Eversheds Sutherland's most experienced employment litigation advocates, he has successfully defended and continues to defend many businesses and organizations in respect of actions involving breaches of the Equality Act 2010 (including all forms of discrimination and equal pay), misclassification claims (worker status), whistleblowing and breach of contract.

Wie-Men also supports businesses and organisations like yours in mediation; and advises on discrimination issues arising out of the provision of goods and services discrimination. 

Wie-Men acts for a number of companies listed in the FTSE 100 and FTSE 250, as well as multi-national business and Global organisations, which are head quartered in Europe and the US.

In addition, Wie-Men is a training lead for Eversheds Sutherland, often delivering various training courses and helping Eversheds Sutherland raise the profile of its training offering, which delivers excellent public training courses that will help your people develop and enhance their own skills.

During his career, Wie-Men has presented on countless occasions both at public events and events hosted by Eversheds Sutherland on topics such as: tackling unlawful discrimination, dealing with bullying and harassment in the workplace, conducting complex investigations, the future of work and managing employees during the pandemic.

Additionally, Wie-Men has created a number of bespoke training courses, including many mock employment tribunals and sessions focusing on diversity and inclusion.

In addition, Wie-Men has been on client secondment to Nationwide Building Society and to Next PLC, where he took the lead on all employment-related matters for the client.

In his spare time, Wie-Men can often be found supporting his children at various sporting events and he himself remains a keen rugby enthusiast - when he's not playing it, he's coaching it. 

Wie-Men has acted in a number of high profile and high-value matters for clients both in respect of the private and public sector, including:

  • representing one of the UK's largest retailers to defend hundreds of equal pay claims worth millions of pounds
  • representing a Global organization in respect of its misclassification employment litigation which attracted significant media interest
  • advising a recently floated wealth management financial services client on the executive termination of a senior director (and resolving the subsequent litigation)
  • successfully resolving a whistleblowing dispute on behalf of a US-headquartered client concerning the allegation of issuing unsafe breathing apparatus to military personnel
  • successfully resolving a significant protective award claim following a food manufacturing client's site closure
  • advising a heavy manufacturing client on the consolidation and relocation of its numerous office-based sites without a single employment claim being issued
  • advising a leisure client on its obligations to consider reasonable adjustments for customers, where assistance animals have been requested to enter premises with them
  • successfully resolving a goods and services discrimination complaint on behalf of a retail client, following allegations of racism by a customer who had entered one of their stores
  • supporting numerous clients in various sectors on their pandemic strategies - including advice on the operation of the furlough scheme (the UK's CJRS), flexi-furlough, return to work issues, self-isolation, employee health and safety concerns and the future of work
