Practice notes

Gurmeet Kaur is Partner in the Dubai office and has been based in the region since 2007. Prior to that she worked for 9 years in Melbourne, Australia in Allens Arthur Robinson and Malleson Stephen Jacques.

She has advised public and private clients on infrastructure, energy and construction projects including on various contractual forms. She is board member of the Middle East Solar Industry Association and a member of the Australian Business Council.

Her experience includes advising: (i)Qatar General Electricity and Water Co (Kahramaa) on the US$3 billion ‘Facility D’ IWPP (Deal of the Year, IFLR Awards 2016) (ii) Martifer Solar in relation to 4 solar PV projects in Jordan (totaling 50MW). Eversheds won Law Firm of the Year at the MESIA Awards 2014 and Project Finance Advisors of the Year at MENASOL Awards 2015 for our work on the Jordan solar projects. (iii) Cobra Instalaciones in relation to the first private 22 MIGD desalination project in Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE. (iv) A government utility in the GCC respect of procurement of an 800MW gas fired IPP project. (v)The Dubai RTA on the renegotiation of the concession agreement for the $8b Dubai metro project and a feasibility study for the expansion of the Red and Green lines using innovative transit oriented developments as a source of funding (for our work on this Eversheds won Property and Construction Team of the Year 2015 at the Corporate Counsel Middle East Awards).

Gurmeet has spoken at various conferences on construction and projects related topics. She has completed her Advance Certificate in Arbitration (Chartered Institute of Arbitrators), LLM (Construction) from Melbourne University and LLB (Hons) and BEc from Monash university, Australia.
