Glynn is a Senior Associate in our Kwa-Zulu Natal Litigation & Dispute Resolution department. He has a general commercial practice with a specific focus on commercial litigation, environmental/administrative and sustainability law.
Glynn joined Eversheds Sutherland as an associate in 2016 following his admission as an attorney in 2015. Glynn was promoted to Senior Associate in 2019.
Glynn has experience in matters across a broad range of sectors including agriculture, FMCG, insurance, logistics, property, mining, employment and retail.
He has experience in aspects of environmental law and regularly acts for and advises on a broad range of environmental-related aspects including regulatory compliance, administrative appeals and reviews and enforcement actions.
Glynn’s recent experience includes:
- Undertaking feasibility assessment and preparing of briefing document of applicable environmental laws for proposed development of setting of a spool base facility in South Africa.
- Conducting an environmental legal audit to determine compliance with environmental legislation at Cataler South Africa (Pty) Ltd
- Acting for RCL FOODS in launching two High Court review applications to review and set aside environmental authorisations granted to neightbouring property owners in the Western Cape.
- Assisting AngloGold Ashanti in preparing a legislative matrix and advising on existing statutory obligations placed upon the company to prevent/remediate environmental pollution caused through Acid Mine Drainage.
- Developing an interactive e-learning tool of environmental laws for use by South 32.
- Assisting in obtaining an order against Tronox KZN Sands on behalf of a commercial fish farmer for the undertaking of an additional hydrological and hydrogeological assessment to investigate claims that the removal of alien invasive species by Tronox necessary for the Titanium mining operations impacted on the fish farmers operations.
- Advising on the legal status of structures erected within the coastal ecological zone of South Africa’s Transkei coast and assisting in developing an environmental management plan to mitigate against identified impacts.
- Instituting urgent High Court proceedings on behalf of RCL FOODS interdicting coal mining operations from continuing without the necessary authorisations.
- Undertaking an environmental due diligence study regarding the disinvestment of Park Hotels in the Hilton Hotel, Durban.
- Preparing objections to various approvals (environmental authorisations, mining rights/permits, water use licenses, rezoning applications) issued by competent authorities.
- Advising RCL FOODS on Greenhouse Gas Regulation requirements.
- Advising RCL FOODS on registering as a producer in terms of waste management regulations and advice on the adoption of waste management plan.
- Assisting RCL FOODS in addressing issues of non-compliance with the National Health Act regarding the release of odours during manufacturing processes.
- Assisting RCL FOODS in undertaking prevention and mediation measures to address pollution of a wetlands caused following the release of grey water during flooding events.
