Christine Khoury

Christine is a principal associate in the commercial/TMT practice in our Dubai – Abu Dhabi offices.

Christine is a member of our commercial, TMT, and intellectual property teams in the UAE. Her practice focuses on the TMT sector and the majority of her work focuses on commercial, and contractual arrangements.

She specializes in TMT and IP matters and has vast experience in corporate and commercial matters. Christine advises on a range of local and international commercial matters and projects including media, digital media (i.e. over the top platform, social media regulations), telecom regulations (i.e. open source software), and data protection. In addition, Christine advises a number of IT clients on legal issues related to e-commerce, data protection, cybersecurity and intellectual property legislations.

Prior to her work within the TMT/dispute sectors, Christine advised high profile and high value transactions for well-known international and local clients, and has acted as local UAE advisor to several major companies on M&A deals.

Some of Christine’s experience includes:

  • advising social media platforms on social media regulations and data protection laws in the region;
  • representing digital content platforms before Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission to comment on the new digital content platform regulations draft;
  • advising a Saudi media commission on digital media issues in particular on over the top platform regulatory aspect and its applicability in several jurisdictions (i.e. UK, EU, Australia and US);
  • advising a UAE Authority on social media platforms regulations in particular, the applicable laws and regulations in the UK and Australia following Christchurch shootings and calls;
  • review data protection arrangements and advising on data protection laws in comparison with GDPR;
  • advising one of the leader telecommunication groups in the region on “open source software” and “application programming interfaces” from a legal perspective;
  • acting for a major telecommunication group in the UAE on a highly strategic digital transformation transaction;
  • presenting a training for a major telecommunication group in the UAE on “internet of things” under UAE regulations;
  • advising one of the leader telecommunication groups in the region on “open source software” and “application programming interfaces” from a legal perspective.

Christine is noted by legal 500 as a TMT lawyer.
