Martin is an employment lawyer with over 10 years' experience advising businesses on all aspects of employment law with a particular focus on the consumer, technology and financial sectors.
Martin is a Senior Associate within Eversheds Sutherland's Employment, Labor and Pensions Group and advises clients on a wide variety of contentious and non-contentious employment issues, including unfair dismissal, redundancy, discrimination, TUPE and restrictive covenants.
Martin's clients include Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 companies covering retail, logistics, technology, transport and cosmetics. Martin has acted for numerous European, US and Japan headquartered companies.
Many of Martin's clients are financial institutions. He is skilled in handling employment issues for these organizations, particularly complex tribunal litigation. Martin has completed two 9-month secondments with two of the UK's largest banks, working with the respective in-house employment law teams in both cases.
Recently, Martin has taken on a prominent role within a key client service team, which has allowed him to work closely with the client to understand its business with a focus on delivering client excellence.
Martin regularly conducts training for clients on all aspects of employment law and delivers presentations on recent developments in employment law.
Martin's recent experience includes:
- advising a Fortune 100 company on managing contractual pay changes affecting 96 employees based in the UK
- advising a major technology company on the recovery of over 1000 documents taken by an exiting employee
- advising a multi-national company about the TUPE implications of the transfer of its UK business to another subsidiary company ahead of a sale to a US-headquartered company
- advocacy before the Employment Tribunal on behalf of a major banking client to secure the successful dismissal of multiple claims
- advising a major Scottish charity on the successful exit of its Chief Executive in contentious circumstances
