Constanze is a Partner in our Employment Labor and Pensions Group and co-leads our Cross Border Employment Team.
Constanze is dual qualified in England & Wales and Germany which gives her a unique insight into the approach to employment law in both common law and civil law jurisdictions.
She regularly works in an international environment acting as strategic adviser and project lead on multi- or cross-jurisdictional employment issues, such as global HR projects, the employment aspects of transactions impacting employees in multiple countries, international assignments and cross border working, as well as advising clients on UK domestic matters. Through a secondment to a large US-owned multinational firm, she has gained in-house experience in a European role.
Constanze is the author of the German chapter of the book EU & International Employment Law and co-author and editor of the Bloomsbury Professional book Employment Law in Europe.
Her recent experience includes:
- advising a range of clients on redundancies affecting multiple jurisdictions, including advice on the feasibility of US style voluntary redundancy schemes;
- advising a number of clients on UK restructuring and redundancy exercises including collective consultation processes;
- advising a client in the health and life sciences sector on a new business model which included addressing labour leasing and TUPE issues in over 40 jurisdictions globally;
- advising a client in the aviation sector on a range of multi-jurisdictional projects across 10 jurisdictions in Europe, including on furlough and similar issues during the COVID-19 pandemic, contract and handbook reviews and advice relating to bonus schemes;
- advising a number of clients on their hybrid working policies and subsequent changes to such policies;
- advising a client in the education sector on their overseas remote working issues, including advice on the overseas working policies, preparation of contract addenda, carrying out in a standardised manner and in collaboration with relevant local counsel individual case assessments on employment and immigration risks for applications for overseas remote working and providing strategic advice and training to the HR team dealing with overseas remote working cases and applications
Constanze spent one month working in the Eversheds Sutherland Milan office where she participated as a speaker in a number of seminars and conferences. She also regularly speaks at seminars and delivers client training on German, English and international employment law topics.
She is ranked as band 2 in Chambers 2024 UK Guide and as a leading individual in Legal 500.
Constanze qualified as a lawyer in Germany in June 1997 and as an English solicitor in July 1999.
