Claire is a Partner in the Competition, Trade and Foreign Investment team, with a specific focus on merger control and foreign direct investment regulation. 

Claire's practice mainly focuses on merger control and foreign direct investment (FDI) screening regulation, acting for clients across multiple sectors, notifying deals and achieving clearances in front of the European Commission, UK Competition and Markets Authority, and other regulators across the globe. She has advised on and managed multiple FDI filings across the globe, and has significant experience of the UK's new National Security and Investment Act 2021.

Claire undertook a six-month secondment with Royal Dutch Shell’s Antitrust Team, where she advised on a wide range global antitrust issues.

Claire also advises across a broad range of competition law matters including the application of competition law to commercial agreements and arrangements, cartel investigations, and creating tailored compliance and training material for clients on competition law. She also advises on the new UK subsidies regime, brought in under the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Act (TCA). 

 

  • acting for six multi-national global agri-commodity businesses in respect of their creation of a joint venture arrangement relating to the creation of a digital platform powered by blockchain for the digital post-trade execution processes;
  • acting for Rolls-Royce on the merger control and foreign direct investment aspects of multiple transactions, including a joint venture arrangement in the energy sector;
  • acting for Eutelsat SA in relation to a string of transactions including its entry into a joint venture, advising both on merger control and foreign direct investment;
  • acting for Altrad, a multi-national industrial services company in respect of a number of transactions, advising on both merger control and foreign direct investment aspects;
  • acting for Pentland in relation to its subsidiary JD Sport's prohibited acquisition of Footasylum in front of the CMA;
  • acting for a range of entities in relation to the UK Government’s new National Security and Investment Act 2021 regime, including the submission of informal filings to the UK Government’s new Investment Security Unit.
