Ben helps Real Estate clients on a broad range of matters from development work, leasehold structuring, forward funding, acquisitions and disposals to lettings, focusing on outlet lettings.

Ben can advise you across the full spectrum of matters from initial acquisition and site assembly, development constraints, and forward funding to asset management and disposal, whether you are an investor or a real estate development company.

Ben helps clients deliver significant development schemes, which in recent years have focused on Build to Rent schemes involving leasehold structuring and forward funding agreements, developments above operational railway and forward sales. Ben has also delivered and pre-let substantial retail and leisure redevelopment schemes.

With regard to disposals and acquisitions, Ben has dealt with numerous deals with values in excess of £100m, taking a considered approach to project management to ensure that deals are concluded in short order.

Ben also has extensive asset management experience focusing on outlet centers and uses his in-depth knowledge of turnover rent leases and structuring of interconnected tenant re-engineering deals to help real estate companies partner with brands and drive asset value. 

Ben's experience includes:

  • advising on the Exchange Square Build to Rent scheme near the planned HS2 station in Birmingham. This scheme had 1,000 residential units, a 230-bed hotel and a new public square and involved leasehold structuring and forward funding agreements with an overall deal value of £200m
  • advising Solum Regeneration regarding numerous schemes including their mixed-use scheme at Twickenham Station. This scheme consists of 140 residential units and ground-floor retail and involved leasehold structuring, development above an operational railway and a forward sale
  • delivering the Friargate mixed-use office led scheme in Coventry, including Coventry City Council's award-winning headquarters and extensive public realm works connecting the city center to the railway station
  • acting on the redevelopment and preletting of Westgate, Oxford and the extension of WestQuay, Southampton schemes, and investment sales of The Mailbox Birmingham and more recently Printworks, Manchester (both for values in excess of £100m)
  • Part of the West Midlands Real Estate Team ranked Tier 1 in Chambers and Partners 2021
