Frances O'Neill

Principal Associate

Frances is a Principal Associate on the Employment team of Eversheds Sutherland’s Employment, Labor and Pensions Group. 

Frances has experience helping companies successfully defend all aspects of Employment Tribunal litigation in England and Wales. Frances can advise you from pre-claim through to Preliminary Hearings and Final Hearings conducting her advocacy on your behalf. She can help you with complex claims such as complex discrimination, whistleblowing and claims involving multiple claimants or respondents. Frances can also support you in Judicial Mediation to successfully resolve disputes through alternative dispute resolution. She has been advising on Employment Tribunal litigation for 10+ years, representing a range of clients including in the construction/engineering, consumer, energy, and financial services sectors, including FTSE 100 companies.

Frances’ role also involves advising businesses to manage all aspects of non-contentious HR and employment matters. This includes advising you on general employment and employee relation issues; contractual change projects; company policies; settlement agreements; investigations; capability, disciplinary and grievance procedures; and redundancy and restructuring projects.

Frances also enjoys delivering training to your HR and business leads.

Frances attends the National Employment Tribunal User Group.

Over her career, she has presented at various public and client events.

Frances has undertaken a six-month secondment with a financial services client.

Frances has advised both public and private sector clients including: 

  • representing a global organization in its misclassification employment litigation which carried reputational risk
  • securing a judicial mediation settlement involving multiple claimants for a retail sector client;
  • advising a public sector client on a complex whistleblowing claim securing the reduction of 87 allegations to 3
  • defending a multi-day race discrimination and unfair dismissal claim for an energy client;
  • providing strategic advice on the reorganization of an energy client’s business
  • advising on the complex employment issues for the separation of a large plc
  • Member of the Employment Lawyers Association
