Counsel
Senior Counsel

Claire is Senior In-House Counsel for our Contracts and Commercial team in our Governance and Compliance function, highly experienced in corporate, finance and commercial law.

Claire's current role involves supporting the business in global projects and risk management as well as negotating both buy and supply side contracts. Previously at Eversheds Sutherland she led the Brexit and COVID commercial support strategy as a professional support lawyer, and was a regular publisher of client briefings and podcasts as well as designing and delivering interactive technical training, including transformation to remote and on-the-move training. Her experience includes producing template documentation and playbooks to drive efficiencies for lawyers and inhouse teams.

Claire trained in the City of London, qualifying as a finance lawyer. A stint on the trading floor of an investment bank, advising on bonds, warrants and derivatives, was followed by a move into professional support for a regional firm in the North East. Having set up the professional support function for the Company & Commercial department of that firm, for 13 years she provided precedent, know-how and training support across the full spectrum of banking, commercial, corporate and restructuring as well as designing and delivering training both internally and for clients.

Before moving to Eversheds Sutherland, Claire returned to transactional work and, with a colleague, set up a new company commercial unit in an existing law firm. She returned to the professional support discipline in 2015 for Eversheds Sutherland's national commerical team before moving to her current role in May 2021.
