On 17 June 2015, the EU’s Committee of Permanent Representatives reportedly agreed to extend the existing economic sanctions against Russia by six months. It is expected that the decision will be ratified at a meeting between EU foreign ministers on Monday 22 June 2015, although this is widely viewed as a formality. The sanctions would otherwise have expired on 31 July 2015.

Please see here for a briefing summarising the sanctions.

A separate regime on EU-wide asset freezes and travel bans is due to expire on 15 September 2015. A further update will follow
