17-09-2020
The Competition and Markets Authority ("CMA") has hit the headlines both in the UK and abroad in recent months by intervening in and blocking a number of high profile M&A deals, including a number of international cross-border deals.
With Brexit, the CMA’s role in scrutinising deals will expand as it takes on the cases – the cross-border deals – currently looked at only in Brussels by the European Commission.
For the Global Competition Review's Europe, Middle East And Africa Antritrust Review 2021, our Competition team contributed the chapter on UK Merger Control, reviewing CMA cases over the last 12 months and identifying the key trends, giving insight into what merging companies and practitioners can expect post-Brexit.
