    Unannounced strike disrupts Tunis businesses

Earlier in January, an unannounced four-day transport workers’ strike led to a complete shutdown of the bus, metro and suburban train systems in Tunis.

The main reason for the strike was the non-payment of a year-end productivity bonus. Talks are currently underway between the Head of Government, the Ministry of Transport and the trade union, UGTT, to find a solution and the strike is currently suspended.

However, the traffic jams and chaos caused many workers to miss work, disrupting businesses and causing financial losses.
