Eversheds Sutherland is proud to have advised GuarantCo and Standard Chartered Bank on the Technaf Solartech Energy project in Bangladesh.
The project received the IJGlobal 2019 ‘Asia Pacific Solar Deal of the Year’ award at a virtual ceremony on 13 July. This is the latest accolade for the project, with other awards including “Best Bangladesh Deal” at the FinanceAsia Achievement Awards 2018 and “Solar Power Project of the Year-Bangladesh” at the Asian Power Awards 2018.
The Technaf Solartech Energy 28 MW solar project is the first utility-scale, grid connected solar project in Bangladesh. At peak production it is expected to meet around 80% of the present energy demand in the Teknaf region of the country.
The Eversheds Sutherland team was led by partners, Jae Lemin in Hong Kong and Mark Dennison in London. They were supported by associates, Karen Lee (Hong Kong) and Holly Suthren (London).
The project is the latest example of Eversheds Sutherland supporting international clients on landmark, first-in country, renewables projects.
