The Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (“MASEN”) has launched an international call for tenders in respect of the proposed development of the Central Noor IV solar farm located in Ourzazate.

Central Noor IV is part of the Noor Concentrated Solar Power Project, which is being developed to contribute to Morocco’s efforts to reduce its dependency on fossil fuels by developing its renewable energy resources. It is being financed by loans of USD 519 million from the World Bank, EUR 654 million from German state-owned bank KFW and also loans from the African Development Bank, the European Commission and the European Investment Bank.

Once completed, the Central Noor IV solar farm will be the largest solar power complex in the world with a projected total production capacity of 50 to 70 megawatts.

Interested participants have until the end of April 2015 to submit their proposals to MASEN. Proposals should include the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of Central Noor IV.

In parallel with Central Noor IV, MASEN is also accepting proposals for developments of up to 50MW in the Noor Laayoune and Noor Boujdour regions of the Sahara.
