In the courts - cameras to broadcast from the Crown Court for the first time
The government has announced new legislation which will permit the sentencing remarks of High Court and senior judges in certain criminal cases to be filmed and broadcast to the public.This will include judges passing sentence on high profile-criminal cases in Crown Courts, including the Old Bailey. Not so good vibrations – prosecutions for failures to adequately manage the risks from vibration remain a priority for the HSE
We are continuing to see a noticeable increase in investigations and prosecutions by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for failures to adequately manage the risk from vibration and where Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) has been suffered by employees. Fines are set to continue rising. Please note, the HSE recently issued updated guidance on the governing legislation, the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005.

Plastic Waste – the Outlook for 2020
2019 will go down as the year when concerns about plastic pollution became main stream and when really for the first time consumers started to demand action. As the year ended retailers issued pledges of one type or another focusing on removing as much plastic packaging as possible from the products they sell and ensuring that the plastic packaging which is present can be recycled.
