In less than a decade, cryptocurrencies have risen from one, initially valueless, Bitcoin to a global asset class, worth, in total, almost US$ 200 billion. This growth has been particularly marked in the past year, with cryptocurrency values increasing by about 1,350%.1 The speed of this growth is phenomenal; however, there are questions regarding the stability of cryptocurrency in the long term.
