Uzbekistan: JSC Uzbekenergo (“Uzbekenergo”) invites requests for prequalification (“RFPQ”) for 100 MW of solar PV IPP

Background

In May 2018, Uzbekenergo and the State Investment Committee of Uzbekistan, engaged the International Finance Corporation to act as its lead transaction advisor. With the IFC’s support, Uzbekenergo intends to invite private sector developers to compete for the right to develop, finance, construct, operate and maintain a utility scale solar PV IPP project of 100 MW (the “Project”) using the World Bank Group’s ‘Scaling Solar’ initiative.

The Project

The Project will be in the Navoi region, with an AC capacity of 100MW. The successful bidder will implement the Project through a special purpose company (“SPC”) to be established and incorporated in Uzbekistan.

It is possible for multiple bidders to jointly register their interest in pre-qualification as a consortium, provided that the Project is ultimately implemented through an SPC incorporated in Uzbekistan. The estimated timetable for the Project is as follows:
