Autumn Statement 2016 - Renewed commitment to the “Business Tax Road Map”

  • United Kingdom
  • Tax planning and consultancy - Autumn Statement

The government confirmed its continued commitment to the Business Tax Road Map published at the time of Budget 2016. This document is intended to provide business with a degree of certainty regarding the government’s business tax policy to 2020, enabling businesses to plan and make long-term investment decisions.

The roadmap sets out the policies the government are committed to, many of which are already in motion, such as corporation tax and capital gains tax rate cuts, BEPS compliant policies such as the interest deduction cap and changes to the business rates system.

It will be reassuring to businesses that the change of guard within the government has not disrupted at an early stage the very plans proposed to provide long-term tax certainty to businesses.
