18-01-2018
An invitation for international companies to prequalify for the contract to build, finance and maintain two monorail packages has been released in Egypt.
The first package is 35km long and will link Giza City with 6th of October City, whilst the second package will extend 52 kilometres from Nasr City district in Cairo to the New Cairo Capital. Both projects are expected to be executed using a combined EPC and private financing model.
A prequalification process has also been announced to win a contract to build, finance and operate an electric high-speed passenger and freight rail. The deadline for these projects is the 28th January.
These projects form part of the ambitious transformational transport programme being promoted by Prof. Dr Hisham Arafat Mahdi, the Minister of Transport, which includes investment in roads, bridges, railways, underground metro and both maritime and river transport in line with Egypt’s 2030 Vision.
