Loretta Malintoppi, of counsel in the Paris office of global law firm Eversheds, has been appointed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, to the Board of Trustees of the Dubai International Arbitration Chamber. Loretta’s appointment is for a term of three years.

The DIAC is the leading arbitral institution in the UAE and the MENA region. It supplies facilities for conducting commercial arbitration, promotes the settlement of disputes by arbitration, as well as developing a pool of arbitrators in the practice of international arbitration.

Loretta said:

“I am delighted and honoured to have been selected to sit on the Board of Trustees of DIAC, particularly in light of the fact that for the first time women have been invited to sit as members of the Board. I am also pleased to contribute my experience to the promotion of international arbitration in the UAE and the MENA region.”

Loretta has also recently been appointed to join the Board of Trustees of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law.

These announcement have coincided with the release of The International Who’s Who of Commercial Arbitration 2013, published by Global Arbitration Review, in which Loretta has been listed as one of the top international arbitrators. Counsel Giorgio Sacerdoti from our Milan office has also been recognised in the list as an outstanding arbitration expert. Who’s Who identifies the foremost practitioners in multiple areas of business law and nominees are selected based upon comprehensive, independent survey work with both general counsel and private practice lawyers worldwide.
