We have a particular experience and in-depth understanding of advising clients investing or trading more challenging jurisdictions.

  • representing the Government of Libya in its defense of four separate ongoing investment treaty arbitrations brought by foreign investors relating to infrastructure projects entered into prior to the Arab Spring
  • representing the Government of Malaysia in a dispute concerning the well-publicized “1MDB Scandal” whereby billions of dollars were misappropriated from the Malaysian people by, amongst others, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia
  • representing the Government of Slovakia in its defense of a Vienna-seated ICC claim brought by a claimant over delays in the issuance of permits for a €1.7 billion road construction project, one of Slovakia’s largest ever infrastructure development contracts
  • representing the Republic of Cameroon in a dispute relating to the construction of the second bridge on the Wouri River in Douala, the capital city
  • served as one of the United States bi-national panelists in international trade disputes between Canada and the United States involving the antidumping and countervailing duty laws
  • represented the Republic of Colombia in two cases brought by Nicaragua before the International Court of Justice. These involved alleged violation of Nicaragua’s sovereign rights and maritime spaces and the question of the delimitation of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles from Nicaragua’s coast
