Infrastructure lawyers

Our global team of 250 infrastructure lawyers advises commercial and institutional lenders, multilaterals, corporates, funds, governments and governmental bodies on major infrastructure projects internationally.

We are recognised for our deep understanding of risk allocation across the full spectrum of infrastructure assets in both developed and developing markets. Our teams are located in the world’s major financial hubs and across the key global regions for infrastructure in the United Kingdom, Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Americas.

We advise across the full infrastructure lifecycle:

  • During the development and planning phase , we advise on regulatory matters, procurement, planning, real estate, tax and the development of a credible and bankable package of finance, construction and operation documents.
  • During the implementation phase , we advise on project and export finance and project M&A. Where challenges arise, we offer a project advisory service to enable the efficient resolution of problems without formal procedure.
  • As infrastructure matures, our teams work towards project expiry across the complex areas of handback, repurposing, repowering and energy efficiency.

Our Infrastructure law experience

Technology, energy efficiency and sustainability are now at the heart of new infrastructure. Our cross-border, multi-disciplinary team works seamlessly across both traditional infrastructure assets including social infrastructure and, new and emerging digital, logistics and distribution and transitional infrastructure assets.

Social Infrastructure

We continue to extensively advise on new and existing social infrastructure including schools, hospitals, prisons and social housing. Governments around the world recognise the importance of these areas to the economic growth and turn to us for strategic advice in the development of project pipelines.  We also advise sponsors, lenders and others on their bids for and implementation of such projects.

Digital Infrastructure

We advise the institutional, venture capital, private equity and individual investors and lenders who invest in, buy, sell and finance digital infrastructure assets. We focus on industry specific work, covering commercial network/service arrangements, infrastructure projects and the provision of regulatory advice. The team regularly advises in relation to the broad range of technologies deployed including fixed, wireless, sub-sea cables, satellites and data centres. We act for clients such as Apple Corps, ARM, ByteDance, Cisco, Comcast, Cox Communications, CyrusOne, Facebook, Intel, Microsoft, Nokia, Paramount Pictures and Ricoh.

Logistics & Distribution

The global logistics industry faces many unique challenges including legislation and governance, environmental issues and the ever-increasing pressure to reduce carbon footprints, energy costs and the need for global players to operate fluidly across national borders while maintaining service levels. We have a strong track record of advising some of the world’s leading logistics providers, such as DHL, TNT and NYK Logistics.

Funds

We advise global funds on their investment into new infrastructure and on secondary market activity. Our global team has a reputation for completing complex infrastructure M&A transactions to time and budget.
