Building Inclusive Cultures: Perspectives from Alumni - May 2022

Being inclusive is one of Eversheds Sutherland’s core values. In this online talk, we heard from a diverse panel of alumni featuring Atoussa Mahmoudpour, Justin Kitchens, and Shazadi Stinton. The conversation was chaired by Ian Gray, Executive Partner and Alumni Co-Chair.

Fostering a Pro Bono Culture - November 2021

In celebration of the 20th Annual Pro Bono Week, we’re pleased to hear from alumna Debjani Biswas-Hawkes, currently Head of Not-for-Profits Programme and Secondary Specialisation at LawWorks.

In this session, Debjani talked about the importance of fostering a pro bono culture so that even the most disadvantaged in society can enforce their rights.

Four Generations of Eversheds Sutherland - December 2020

Hear from current and former Eversheds Sutherland lawyers, all of whom represent a milestone joining year stretching back thirty years:

Lee Ranson Lee Ranson:
CEO, Eversheds Sutherland

In 1990, Lee joined the firm as a commercial litigator and has been CEO since 2017. Previously, he was Managing Partner for eight years and led the Real Estate practice group for four.

Andy Yorston Andy Yorston:
Head of Legal, Vodafone UK

In 2000, Andy joined us as a trainee. After leaving, he rose up the ranks at Vodafone and is now a multi-award-winning senior in-house lawyer.

Ismat Abidi:
Counsel, Netflix

In 2010, Izzy began her traineeship with us, including rotations in the Middle East. She has since established a hybrid legal-creative career as a media lawyer and entrepreneur.

Rhiannon Mathias:
Trainee, Eversheds Sutherland

In 2020, Rhiannon graduated from BPP University with a Distinction. She then joined us as a trainee under remote working conditions in unprecedented times.

The conversation was chaired by Aysha Fernandes , Commercial Finance Director at UK Finance and Co-Chair of the Eversheds Sutherland Alumni Network.

Aysha explored how each have stayed on top of their game across the varying stages of their professional journeys. Our speakers also shared their lessons in leadership, fondest firm memories and visions of an ever-evolving legal landscape.
