Our class action and group litigation experience

Our group litigation and class action experience covers:

• served as lead counsel defending a ‘Big Four’ accounting firm in a federal securities fraud class action filed against a national homebuilding company, its officers and the accounting firm as the company's auditor, on behalf of a class of persons and entities that purchased or acquired the securities of the homebuilder over a three-year period
  • successfully defended a NASDAQ-traded health care company in a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) investigation and subsequent grand jury investigation of alleged antitrust violations
  • decertified a 100-plus plaintiff collective action Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime case and then tried the first group of those plaintiffs to a jury, resulting in a settlement during jury deliberations
  • defending and resolving proceedings for a UK plc in multi-party group litigation involving 3,000 claims in the High Court, concerning allegations of blacklisting, data protection breaches, defamation and the misuse of private information
  • defending a global financial institution in group litigation involving 500+ claims in relation to allegations of dishonest assistance and conspiracy in relation to film finance schemes
  • acting for eight major corporates in the utilities sector in the defence of claims from over 100 claimants for in excess of £0.5 billion as part of a collective and industry wide action
  • acting for a global consumer business and a global food manufacturer on multi-party claims arising from alleged odour and noise nuisance at their manufacturing sites
