Eversheds Sutherland Belgium has advised Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG on its successful acquisition of Kinolt Group SA
- Belgium
30-06-2020
Eversheds Sutherland (Belgium) has advised Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG, the Germany-based leading provider of back-up power generation, on its successful acquisition of Kinolt Group SA, a Belgian specialist in dynamic, uninterruptible power supply systems for particularly safety-critical consumers.
The Eversheds Sutherland team was led by Koen Devos (corporate partner), Evy Verhaeghe (senior associate) and Maxiem Devos (associate). The global law firm provided advice on all legal aspects of this transaction (corporate, M&A, labour law, environmental law, etc.).
Allen & Overy LLP advised seller Fuel Midco S.a r.l.
With this acquisition, Rolls-Royce, provider of world-class power solutions and complete life-cycle support through its product and solutions brand MTU, is now expanding its range of products for emergency power applications. This market has remained a growth area during the Covid-19 pandemic and is expected to grow in the coming years as customers look to further minimize their risk of disruption.
Kinolt, based in Grace-Hollogne, Liège (Belgium) and known as Euro-Diesel until mid-2019, employs around 290 people, has production facilities in Liège and Willich (Germany), and has service and sales offices across the world.
The transaction was completed on 1 July 2020 following the approval of antitrust authorities.
