Wierzbowski Eversheds advises Warsaw Tramways

  • Poland

    20-09-2010

The law firm of Wierzbowski Eversheds has advised the Warsaw tramway company, Tramwaje Warszawskie Sp. z o.o., in the process of obtaining financing to purchase trams and for renovation of the tramline infrastructure.

Warsaw Tramways signed a credit agreement on 15 September 2010 with the European Investment Bank for PLN 920 million, supplementing a PLN 200 million agreement signed with EBRD in April. The financing is designed to cover the costs of implementing the company’s long-term investment plan, including the costs of purchasing 186 new trams and modernizing the existing tramline infrastructure. The financing was structured in a way that would avoid impacting the balance sheet of the City of Warsaw.

Signing of the credit agreement with EIB crowns nearly 2 years of work on the project. Wierzbowski Eversheds served as the company’s legal advisers throughout the process of obtaining financing. The firm’s work on the project was directed by Dr. Marek Czarny, with support from Dr. Krzysztof Haładyj, Magdalena ChrzanMalgorzata Bakuła and Agata Jankowska-Galińska.
