Chambers & Partners has just published the next edition of Chambers Europe Legal Directory 2013. Wierzbowski Eversheds as well as individual practitioners have once again been recommended in numerous fields of law.

We have been recognized in the following areas of law:

    • Banking & Finance
"This one-partner team has undertaken a variety of matters, and is particularly noted for its expertise in project finance. Transactions of note include acting for MPWiK on the modernisation of Warsaw's water system. In addition, it advised Tramwaje Warszawskie on EUR300 million financing for the extension of the tramway system."

    • Tax

It is noted for its work in structuring acquisitions and disposals, with a particular emphasis on private equity. Key highlights include advising Emperia Holding on a sale of shares in Tradis, and providing tax advice to Epuro Polska on the sale of the business to management."

    • Life Sciences
"This well-regarded team offers broad life sciences expertise to its clients. The firm is especially known amongst market commentators for its strength in regulatory assignments and competition-related matters. On its client roster are pharmaceutical companies, such as Bristol-Myers Squibb and AstraZeneca."

    • Competition/Antitrust
"This well-rounded firm is highly active on the competition front. The team has been particularly busy in the telecoms, energy and pharmaceutical sectors, and has notable experience of acting before the European Commission. The practice wins praise for its comprehensive support and the successful combination of competition advice with a strong dispute resolution practice. Notable mandates include representing PGNiG in an appeal to the Court of Competition and Consumer Protection against a EUR15 million fine. Sources say: "It's a firm made by creative people."

    • Construction
"Construction work is a cornerstone of this practice. It is recognised in the market for its ongoing advice to the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. Other recent highlights include acting for EC1 Łódź – Miasto Kultury on a variety of matters relating to the redevelopment of a downtown area in Łódź. In the energy sector, the team advised Rafako on a tender organised by PGE Elektrownia Opole."

    • Employment Law
“Despite its compact size, this one-partner employment team remains highly active and maintains a broad practice. It has recently handled a significant number of redundancy instructions and contract terminations, as well as due diligence and data protection matters. Sources say: The team is very quick at solving a problem.”

    • Private Equity
“This team is a new addition to the rankings following positive comments from clients and peers. Over the past twelve months it has strengthened its practice, and recently represented Argus Capital in acquiring a minority stake in a clinical research company. Sources say: The lawyers are resourceful. I also like that I had the full attention of the senior partners."

    • Restructuring Insolvency
“Strong endorsements from clients and peers have seen this noteworthy firm rise in the rankings. The team handles all types of restructurings including consensual, contentious and purely transactional work. It applies this expertise to representing both creditors and debtors. Recent mandates include advising Celsa Huta Ostrowiec on its EUR600 million debt restructuring. Sources say: The team was thorough and responsive. Its client service was brilliant.”

    • Dispute Resolution
“This prominent practice remains a serious player in the market. Of particular note is the firm's expertise in telecoms and banking-related litigation. The firm's substantial reputation is demonstrated by its high-profile client list, including prominent international companies such as IKEA, which the team recently advised on numerous personal data and privacy issues. I would definitely instruct the firm again. The team went beyond giving us purely legal advice and gave us a commercial perspective."

    • Public Procurement
“Eversheds has been a force in Poland since 2005, but the team's experience goes back much farther. The public procurement practice is able to combine the advantages that an international network of colleagues provides, whilst maintaining a strong domestic profile. This is exemplified by the group's client portfolio, which comprises prominent public clients from Poland, as well as large, foreign contractors. The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) is a long-term client, and recently mandated the firm in the public procurement for the operation of the Viatoll Electronic Toll Collection System.
