Three New Year’s promotions at Wierzbowski Eversheds

Łukasz Jankowski has become a partner at Wierzbowski Eversheds. Małgorzata Bakuła and Magdalena Chrzan have been promoted to senior associates.

Łukasz Jankowski is an attorney at law and heads the firm’s energy law practice. He has been affiliated with the firm since 2013. He has extensive experience providing legal support for electricity and gas companies. Before joining Wierzbowski Eversheds he worked among other positions as a manager in the legal department of RWE Polska and in leading Polish law firms. He has carried out projects for energy trading companies and distribution system operators. He has advised on investments in grid infrastructure. He has negotiated and drafted contracts for sale of electricity, contracts for distribution services, comprehensive agreements, grid connection agreements and EFET contracts. He has represented enterprises in the power sector in numerous administrative disputes before the President of the Energy Regulatory Office and in proceedings before the Court of Competition and Consumer Protection, the courts of appeal and the Supreme Court of Poland. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. 

Małgorzata Bakuła is an attorney at law in the firm’s banking and finance team. She specializes in banking law and capital markets law. She has worked at the firm for over 8 years. During this time she has participated in the largest matters conducted by the banking and finance team, including matters requiring coordination of the work of lawyers across multiple jurisdictions. She provides legal support to financial institutions, including investment funds and banks. She advises on public offerings, reporting obligations, and tender offers. She works on M&A transactions. She had advised on numerous bond issues. She also advises on cash management. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw and completed banking and finance studies at the Warsaw School of Economics. 

Magdalena Chrzan is an attorney at law in the firm’s banking and finance team. She has been affiliated with Wierzbowski Eversheds for over 10 years. She specializes in banking law and payment services law. She is experienced in reorganization of companies from the payment services industry, investment credit security and securitization. She has carried out many complex transactions in these areas, including cross-border matters. She regularly advises financial institutions on regulatory matters, with particular attention to issues of electronic payment instruments and anti–money-laundering. She is a graduate of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and earned an LL.M. at the University of Regensburg, Germany.
