Tomasz Zalewski and Paweł Lipski new heads of TMT practice

As of September 2017 the TMT practice, one of the leading and most often recognized practices at Wierzbowski Eversheds Sutherland, is headed by two partners, Tomasz Zalewski and Paweł Lipski, who also lead the firm’s intellectual property and e-commerce teams. The new leaders also plan to reinforce the staffing of the team. 
Tomasz Zalewski is an attorney at law affiliated with the firm since 1999, since 2008 as the partner in charge of the firm’s intellectual property and new technologies team. He has over 20 years’ experience serving corporate clients. He specializes in intellectual property law, legal support for new technology projects, and public procurement law. A large group of his clients are major firms from the IT sector, and for years he has also advised tech startups. He has advised on numerous IT projects, including comprehensive implementation of software in traditional and SaaS models. His professional interests include legal aspects of application of state-of-the-art technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, the internet of things and cybersecurity. He also advises on matters involving advertising and unfair competition. He handles issues of copyright, licensing, technology transfer, and IP infringement. He is a co-author of the blog IP w sieci, devoted to legal issues of new technologies, copyright and e-commerce. He founded LegalTech Polska, a forum for exchange of ideas and knowledge on tech law and IT applications in law practice. He is an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration of the Audiovisual Market at the Polish Audiovisual Producers Chamber of Commerce and a council expert for the Polish Chamber of Informatics and Telecommunications. Paweł Lipski is an attorney at law affiliated with the firm since 2007, since 2014 as the partner co-heading the intellectual property and new technologies team. He specializes in intellectual property law, internet law, consumer law, litigation, advertising law, and contract law. He has over 10 years of experience providing legal advice to businesses. He works for leading internet platforms, retailers, and producers of advanced IT systems. He has particular experience in matters involving violation of law on the internet, for example advising in high-profile cases alleging infringement by users of hosting services. He has represented clients in numerous criminal and civil proceedings involving infringement of intellectual property rights. He has advised dozens of tech startups. He supports clients in judicial disputes, proceedings before the Polish Patent Office and EUIPO, in negotiations, due diligence, and creation of IP management strategies. He is a co-author of the firm’s intellectual property blog IP w sieci. He regularly speaks at conferences on intellectual property and new technologies. He is a member of the International Trademark Association and for many years has been recommended by prestigious legal directories in the IP area.
