In November Ewa Łachowska-Brol and Ewa Szlachetka assumed the role of co-managing partners of Wierzbowski Eversheds Sutherland. They replaced Tomasz Zalewski, who at the end of his term decided to end his cooperation with the firm.

Ewa Łachowska-Brol has been affiliated with the firm since its founding. For two decades she has headed the firm’s labor law team. Before joining Wierzbowski Eversheds Sutherland she worked in a leading consulting firm. She advises Polish and foreign businesses in all matters involving employment law. She is one of the co-authors of the firm’s employment blog Kodeks w pracy. Ewa Łachowska-Brol is a law graduate of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. She also completed postgraduate studies in European law at the University of Warsaw and holds a Certificate of Professional Competence in International Road Haulage Operations. She is a member of the Labor Law Association.

Ewa Szlachetka joined the firm in 2014 as a partner. She heads the firm’s corporate, M&A and capital markets teams. She has nearly 20 years of experience advising business clients at renowned law firms. She specializes in corporate law and M&A transactions, including acquisitions of public companies and restructuring of capital groups. She also handles transactions by private equity and venture capital funds. She is a law graduate of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and completed the course of study at the British Law Centre, conducted by the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw in conjunction with the University of Cambridge. She also completed with distinction postgraduate studies in international commercial law at the University of Kent in the UK.

Ewa Łachowska-Brol and Ewa Szlachetka are recognized experts enjoying the trust of clients, as confirmed by prestigious legal rankings such as Chambers Europe, Legal 500 EMEA and IFLR 1000, which have recommended them for years in their leading practice areas.

“Entrusting the role of co-managing partners to Ewa Szlachetka and Ewa Łachowska-Brol is the result of a decision to implement the concept of joint management,” said Krzysztof Wierzbowski, senior partner, founder of the firm, and managing partner until 2017. “Both of these partners are committed to work together based on our key values and the strategy developed over the past year. We are handing over the management of the firm to colleagues who for years have contributed to the firm’s development and built its reputation. I am confident that their broad experience in managing their own practice teams as well as active participation in firm-wide decision-making processes will enable them to effectively achieve their goals. Ewa Szlachetka and Ewa Łachowska-Brol will combine the new function of co-managing partners with continuing to head their respective practices.”

Tomasz Zalewski was affiliated with the firm from 1999. For more than a decade he headed the firm’s public procurement practice and co-headed the IP & TMT team. He served as managing partner from October 2017. He is ending his cooperation with the firm in December 2018.

Ewa Łachowska-Brol and Ewa Szlachetka stated: “We would like to thank Tomasz Zalewski for his contribution to the growth of the entire firm, his participation in the success of the practice teams he has headed, and the past year of intense work at the position of managing partner. For us, this new role is a huge honor, but also means many new challenges. This year the firm celebrates its 20th anniversary and we enter the third decade of our operations with clearly defined goals. We intend to continue implementing the recently launched strategy involving expansion of our competencies in the digital field and supporting businesses across all areas of their operations affected by the digital transformation. We seek to respond optimally to clients’ needs by implementing innovations in firm management and in our services, exploiting the synergies from being part of a global brand and relying on the talented people who want to realize their potential with us.”
