The international law firm Eversheds Sutherland has today announced the opening of offices in Moscow and St Petersburg. This investment in Russia continues its global expansion strategy: the firm has 66 offices in 32 countries, and recently opened new offices in Singapore, Düsseldorf, and Brunei Darussalam.

A full range of business law services is offered, with an emphasis on real estate, litigation, corporate and M&A, employment, and corporate law. Formerly part of a respected Nordic law firm, the team has a proven track record of over 25 years in Russia.

The firm will be led in Russia by Managing Partner Victoria Goldman, who is recognised as an “Eminent Practitioner” by the international legal market analyst Chambers. She will be supported by partners Anu Mattila (corporate, M&A), Yury Pugach (real estate, litigation and dispute management), Mikhail Timonov (corporate, M&A) and Luke Wochensky (litigation and dispute management, corporate crime & investigations).

Lee Ranson , Co-CEO, said: “our new Moscow and St Petersburg offices represent an important addition to our worldwide platform. Our key demand was to find lawyers who would evidence the Eversheds Sutherland values: client commitment, innovative solutions and global service. I am delighted to welcome our new colleagues in Russia to the firm".

Victoria Goldman , Managing Partner, Russia, noted: “we have followed the positive development of Eversheds Sutherland worldwide with great interest. With its wide range of services, global reach and award-winning practices, Eversheds Sutherland was a natural choice for our team and an excellent platform for our current and future clients”.

Ian Gray, Client Strategy Partner, added: “our global clients demand innovative and excellent legal advice everywhere they operate. I am pleased we will now be able to be a trusted advisor to those clients in Russia."

Yury Pugach, Partner, said: “Our real estate and corporate practice is already well-respected on the Russian market, and we look forward to working on more cross-border transactions. Equally, we will continue to support Russian clients as they expand their business in Europe and North America, and markets as diverse as China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and South Africa”.

Luke Wochensky , Partner, observed: “We already advise numerous international clients on dispute resolution and litigation in Russia. Now we can seamlessly advise Russia-based clients on cross-border disputes, international arbitration and investigations through our own offices in London, Stockholm, Paris, Singapore and New York”.
