Legal500 EMEA published its 2019 results and our firm was ranked in 6 practices: • Commercial, corporate and M&A Moscow - Tier 5 • Commercial, corporate and M&A St Petersburg and elsewhere - Tier 2 The ‘very responsive and innovative’ commercial practice at Eversheds Sutherland is headed by Mikhail Timonov, who is highlighted ‘for his expertise in negotiations and exceptional legal experience’. Other key figures are counsel Anton Bakov, who is ‘efficient and always gives practical and legally sound advice’, and Anu Mattila, who focuses on international corporate law and cross-border M&A deals. The practice recently assisted Specta with the acquisition of a production company in Yekaterinburg. Other clients include Nordic & Baltic Property Group and SRV Russia. • Tax - Tier 4 Eversheds Sutherland's tax capabilities were bolstered by the arrival of counsel Andrey Grachev, who is now heading the practice, and senior associate Anton Borisichev from KPMG Russia in April 2018. Grachev is 'highly competent, efficient and experienced' in domestic and international tax structures, due diligence and tax dispute resolution, while Borisichev is 'a creative thinker and is able to find multiple solutions to one issue'. Olga Eremina and Daria Korshakova are also names to note. • Employment - Tier 4 Eversheds Sutherland handles HR audits, strategic employment policies and changes in the management of companies, among other matters. Victoria Goldman and Anu Mattila jointly head the department. Principal associates Ekaterina Mironova and Olga Chirkova are also noted. • Restructuring and insolvency - Tier 4 Yury Pugach at Eversheds Sutherland represented Czech Export Bank, as the creditor, in a dispute concerning the bankruptcy of GEP Vologdaoblcommunenergo. Pugach also acts for the same client in debt recovery matters concerning various other bankruptcy proceedings. Mikhail Timonov also acts for creditors in a number of bankruptcy proceedings. • Dispute Resolution: Litigation - Tier 5 We are all very happy and thankful.
