Attached real property owned by the Russian Federation sold by public auction in Sweden
- Sweden
19-02-2014
On 18 February 2014 the attached land unit Lidingö Kostern 5 owned by the Russian Federation was sold for SEK 20 500 000 by public auction in Sundbyberg, Sweden.
The sale of the attached land unit occurred on the request of a creditor represented by Jonas Löttiger and Hans Forssell of Eversheds.
The Russian Federation has contested the attachment and sale of the land unit for the last decade. The Russian Federation has argued that state and diplomatic immunity protects the land unit from attachment and sale on public auction.
The attachments of Lidingö Kostern 5 have entered into final legal force following decisions rendered by the Swedish Supreme Court on 1 July 2011 and subsequent decisions rendered by Svea Court of Appeal and Nacka District Court in 2012.
