Eversheds Sutherland’s client improving access to high-quality antenatal care in Ghana
Eversheds Sutherland has advised PharmAccess Foundation on its joint-initiative with the Dutch Embassy in Ghana, Africa to provide specialised antenatal care for pregnant women through the establishment of the ‘Woman360 franchise’ (Woman360).
Woman360 is a franchise made up of private maternal healthcare providers committed to issues concerning women’s maternal healthcare in Ghana.
Initiated by Netherlands-based PharmAccess, Woman360 aims to eradicate the challenges women face in pregnancy and childbirth by providing them with better access to specialist, affordable maternal healthcare.
The Eversheds Sutherland team, led by commercial Partner Tom Bridgford, advised on all aspects of the full franchise agreement entered into by PharmAccess, and each of the franchisees.
The team comprised Partner Jackie Heeds (commercial) and Associate David Murray (commercial), with assistance from Ghana-based law firm AB & David – a member of the Eversheds Africa Law Institute (EALI).
Tom Bridgford, commented:
“Woman360 is an impressive initiative and one we feel privileged to have been part of. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to combine our commercial experience with the local knowledge and expertise of AB & David, to enable its launch. We’re very pleased with the result and look forward to working with PharmAccess again.”
Hans Peter Wiebing, PharmAccess, commented:
“Woman360 was born out of the boundless commitment and dedication of those wanting to significantly improve the healthcare of women in Ghana. Eversheds Sutherland’s legal expertise and guidance has been integral in bringing this initiative to fruition. The teams worked seamlessly, drawing on their specialist experience to complete this innovative matter in healthcare contracting and service delivery. We’re delighted.”
