    February 1, 2018 — Launched on February 1, 2017, Eversheds Sutherland was created through the combination of leading law firms Eversheds and Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP. Today, the global law practice celebrates its first anniversary and a year which has been marked by a series of key milestones and achievements.

    Stronger together. Since joining forces, Eversheds Sutherland’s in-depth experience and broad reach have benefitted clients in meaningful new ways and across new jurisdictions. Fortunate to collectively act for 61 of the FTSE 100, 72 of the Fortune 100 and 120 of the Fortune 200, a few highlights include:  

    • Supporting Turkish Airlines as its sole outside legal provider in its endeavor to increase operational efficiency by helping it achieve cost certainty, consistent billing practice and performance measurement
    • Helping DB Engineering and Consulting on its successful bid to construct the first high-speed railway in California  
    • Successfully appointed to Smiths’ global panel to provide M&A services

    Global service. To ensure the highest level of support for clients around the world, Eversheds Sutherland has expanded its extensive global platform to more than 2,400 lawyers in 66 offices in 32 jurisdictions across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the United States through the:  

    • launch of Eversheds Harry Elias in Singapore and Brunei Darussalam  
    • Düsseldorf office opening  
    • Luxembourg office opening  
    • St Petersburg office opening  
    • Moscow office opening

    In addition, a network of more than 200 related law firms, including formalized alliances in Latin America, Asia Pacific and Africa, provide additional support around the globe.

    Investing in people. Since its launch, Eversheds Sutherland has added exceptional talent to better service its clients. The law practice is quickly approaching 5,000 people and has expanded its team of outstanding partners around the world through both promotion and attracting lateral talent, including:  

    • 23 partner promotions with a further 17 with effect from 1 January 2018  
    • 27 lateral partner hires

    Our Partner Conference in June 2017 brought together more than 650 partners from around the world and we have created several successful programs for the benefit of our people and communities, including:  

    • the Pass the Baton program, Eversheds Sutherland’s global exchange platform to help bring people together from all offices to further strengthen its common culture  
    • all 66 offices coming together to celebrate International Women’s Day  
    • running 2,727,034 steps around the world to raise more than €10,000 for WaterAid during Global Running Day

    Financial performance. Also announced today are Eversheds Sutherland’s first-year headline financials. Global revenues for the year ending December 31, 2017 were US$1.03 billion, an increase of 5% on the previous year.

Clients were the primary driver for bringing our legacy firms together and the success we have had in winning new clients and growing our business with existing clients has exceeded all our expectations and promises well for the future.”
