Eversheds advises British food corporation Bernard Matthews Foods on the sale of its business in Germany

    The international corporate law firm Eversheds has advised the British poultry producer Bernard Matthews Foods on the sale of its business in Germany. The Eversheds team advising Bernard Matthews was headed by M&A Partner Sven Schweneke of the Munich office.

    The acquirers of Bernard Matthews Oldenburg GmbH (BMO) are Union Holding based in Cloppenburg as well as entrepreneurs Albert and Paul Sprehe who have acquired 100 percent of the shares in BMO. Since 1996, BMO has been producing fresh poultry products, such as sliced cooked meat, convenience food and steaks, as well as frozen products and is servicing the German and neighbouring European market from Oldenburg with turkey and chicken products. The production capacity currently amounts to approx. 8,000 tons annually.

    The international food corporation Bernard Matthews Foods, based in Norwich, UK, is one of the largest poultry producers in Europe and has approx. 5,000 employees all over Europe.
