Heisse Kursawe Eversheds advised Freightliner on acquisition of ERS Railway B.V.

    Munich/Hamburg - The British Freightliner Group reinforces its international presence in railbound freight logistics. Freightliner has acquired ERS Railways B.V. with its seat in Rotterdam from the Danish Maersk A/S. ERS Railways B.V. was founded in 1994 and services terminals in Italy, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the Czech Republic from ports in Rotterdam, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Lübeck and Rostock. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The takeover is however still conditional on the required official permits.

    In addition, ERS Railways holds a share of 47% in which mainly services terminals in Germany. In 2012, boxXpress obtained a licence for railbound freight logistics in Austria.

    An international team around the Corporate Partners Chris Haliday (London), Sven Schweneke (Munich) and Stijn van der Stab (Rotterdam) provided legal support to the transaction in England, Germany and the Netherlands.
