The German business magazine WirtschaftsWoche has named four Partners of Eversheds Sutherland as top lawyers. Moreover, the legal practice was selected as "Top Legal Practice 2021" for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) as well as anti-trust law. The ranking is carried out every year by the renowned business magazine in cooperation with Handelsblatt Research Institute (HRI).

According to the ranking, Dr. Michael Prüßner (Munich) and Sven Schweneke (Munich) are among the most renowned lawyers for M&A. In addition, two Eversheds Sutherland Partners were named as top lawyers for anti-trust law: Martin Bechtold (Munich/Brussels) and Daniel von Brevern (Dusseldorf).

Martin Bechtold, head of the German anti-trust law practice group, has more than 30 years experience in the conduct of merger control proceedings (phase I and II) before the European Commission and in Germany as well as in the worldwide coordination of merger control proceedings. Furthermore, he advises his clients with regard to anti-trust law-related compliance matters and cartel and abuse procedures as well as the assertion and defence of anti-trust law-related claims in court.

Daniel von Brevern advises his clients in particular on German, European and international merger control matters, on anti-trust proceedings and within the framework of actions for damages under anti-trust law. In addition, he focuses on investment control and European state aid law.

Dr. Michael Prüßner advises companies and financial investors on national and cross-border M&A and private equity transactions as well as on carve-outs. In addition, he advises management and advisory board members on matters of corporate governance, questions regarding stock corporation and corporate group law and in the area of compliance.

Sven Schweneke heads the German Private Equity team and advises financial investors and strategists on national and international M&A and private equity transactions. In addition, he has extensive experience in complex restructuring measures.

For the WirtschaftsWoche rankings, Handelsblatt Research Institute interviewed more than 4,400 lawyers from 226 law firms. The final selection was made by an expert jury of representatives from companies and specialist media, including Bosch, RWE, ThyssenKrupp and ZF Friedrichshafen. According to the jury's assessment, 53 law firms with 89 lawyers stood out for M&A and 45 law firms with 87 lawyers were especially recommended for anti-trust law.
