Eversheds Sutherland advises Borealis on the issuance of a Schuldschein (promissory note) in the amount of approx. EUR 200 million

    Eversheds Sutherland advised Borealis AG, a leading supplier of innovative solutions in the sectors of polyolefins, base chemicals, and plant nutrients, on the issuance of a Schuldschein loan agreement in the amount of EUR 140 million and USD 70 million.

    The Schuldschein (promissory note) was successfully placed in fixed and variable interest tranches with tenors of 5, 7 and 10 years, and conduces the further diversification of Borealis’ financial structure. The issuance was subscribed by over 50 investors, mostly from Germany, Austria and Asia.

    Commerzbank AG, Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, and Raiffeisen Bank International AG acted as joint arranger.

    Borealis’ headquarter is located in Vienna, Austria and counts about 6,800 employees in over 120 countries. In 2018, Borealis generated a sales revenue of EUR 8.3 billion.
