WirtschaftsWoche: Eversheds Sutherland recognised as top legal practice for real estate and construction law - three lawyers rank among the best

  • Germany

The German business magazine Die WirtschaftsWoche has recognised Eversheds Sutherland as top legal practice for real estate and private construction law. Moreover, Marc Schwencke (real estate law) as well as Steffen Jung and Janis Heiliger (both private construction law) count among Germany's most renowned lawyers and have been recognised as top lawyers in their respective legal areas.

Marc Schwencke, Partner in Eversheds Sutherland's Real Estate practice group in Dusseldorf, advises national and international companies, investors and the public sector with respect to all questions of real estate commercial law and particularly specialises in the core areas of project development and transactions. He has focused on urban development, retail and logistics projects as well as the development of datacentres.

Steffen Jung (Partner in Munich) heads the Construction practice group of Eversheds Sutherland in Germany. He has more than 20 years of experience in advising clients on complex and major construction and real estate projects with a focus on infrastructure projects accompanying the construction phase. He also represents clients in real estate-related litigation before courts and arbitral tribunals.

Janis Heiliger (Counsel, Dusseldorf) is a member of the Construction practice group and advises on all areas of construction and real estate law. He has extensive experience in construction processes and assists with contract drafting and project-related legal advice.

With an interdisciplinary team of 40 experts across real estate and construction law, corporate law, financing, tax law and public law, Eversheds Sutherland advises clients on any and all legal matters concerning the life cycle of a property - from the purchase and its financing to the development and management of the real estate to exploitation and dispute resolution.

For the ranking of the most renowned lawyers, the Handelsblatt Research Institute (HRI) has asked more than 1960 lawyers from over 160 law firms to name their most renowned colleagues for real estate and private construction law. From this list, a jury of experts has then selected 40 law firms with 55 lawyers particularly recommended for real estate law and 27 law firms with 45 lawyers particularly recommended for private construction law.

More lawyers of Eversheds Sutherland are included in the rankings recently published by WirtschaftsWoche: Fabian Volz (Munich), Ralf-Thomas Wittmann and Christian Becker (both Dusseldorf) count among the best lawyers for insurance law. Tobias Maier and Axel Zimmermann (both Munich) are recommended for copyright law. Christian Hilpert (Berlin) is again among Germany's most renowned restructuring lawyers and Anne Deike Riewe (Munich) has been listed for insolvency law for the first time. Joos Hellert (Munich) is one of the best lawyers for compliance and David Rieks (Hamburg) is particularly recommended for commercial criminal law. Alexander Niethammer (Munich) has again received an award for data protection and Lutz Schreiber (Hamburg) has been listed for IT law. Marco Ferme (Munich) is among the top lawyers for employment and labour law and Martin Bechtold (Munich/Brussels) for anti-trust law.
