WirtschaftsWoche names Eversheds Sutherland as Top Legal Practice for Data Protection and IT Law

    German business magazine Die WirtschaftsWoche has recognised Eversheds Sutherland as a top legal practice 2020 for data protection and IT law. Partners Alexander Niethammer for data protection law and Lutz Schreiber for IT law are ranked among the top lawyers.

    In the fields of data protection and cyber security, the German team in particular provides advice on data security, the reform of the European data protection law, the transfer of data abroad, data protection management as well as with regard to employee data protection and digitalisation issues such as Big Data, artificial intelligence and the internet of things. The team, which is part of the global Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Group of Eversheds Sutherland, furthermore advises on data protection management and provides support with regard to crisis management in case of data breaches and cyber attacks.

    The German technology practice advises on all questions regarding IT law and data or secret protection law and provides support with outsourcing and other IT projects. The team's focus is on maintenance and service agreements, software development and licencing, cloud computing, IT compliance and litigation as well as current questions of digital transformation such as the establishment of digital business models, digital distribution and Big Data as well as IT questions and secret protection within the framework of transactions.

    For the ranking of the most renowned lawyers, the Handelsblatt Research Institute (HRI) asked more than 940 lawyers from over 130 law firms to name their most renowned colleagues for data protection and IT law. From this list, a jury of experts selected 28 law firms with 34 particularly recommended lawyers for data protection as well as 27 law firms with 45 particularly recommended lawyers for IT law.
